After browsing through our extensive new season collection, the ‘Rock Star’ shirt and tie set really caught our attention. It is made from cotton and fastens with plastic buttons. The tie is also detachable via button for safety, so no need to worry about that! The printed details give it a quirky twist with the guitars on the elbows and white contrast stitching. This week we love the 'bubble birds' blouse from La Queue du Chat (…translated as ‘The Cats Tail’). The brand uses organic materials and chemical free dyes to create natural pieces with fabulous prints featuring cute characters. One of our favourite products this week is the ‘Chic Spirit’ navy striped sweater by Absorba. Yes, it is this time of the year again for us French people to celebrate Bastille Day. How many French do still know why and what they celebrate?....
The storming of the Bastille fortress-prison and the French Revolution. Would this have happened in the middle of December, I am not sure the day would be still be celebrated 200 years later.

Just a quick update from the 'Bubble' trade show in London. The day was a real success, it's always great to see what everyone is getting up to. We love shows as they give us an opportunity to schmooze with new designers and see what is up and coming in the fabulous world of children’s fashion…
Key trends seem to be reaffirming themselves in next years collections. For the girls this includes small, detailed flower prints following on from the likes of Petit Bateau’s current floral bodysuits. Ironically French style is moving towards an ‘English Rose’ theme which will see the use of more subtle pink and yellow. There will also be more use of soft turquoise and greens, which have not be seen much in past seasons

A quick post from Laurence from Avignon in Provence during the visit of some of our suppliers. I left Edinbugh by 8 degC this morning to arrive in Marseille by 35 degC. What a thermal shock!! A quick look at some baby shops, some chats with some boutique owners that i know: Clayeux & Petit Bateau. The warm weather has not been a good news for them, since the winter collection doesn't sell very well as a result. How could you get a 3-year old trying an anorak in a shop by this temperature! I have to admit that the relatively disappointing UK weather has helped many of the products of the new collection to sell very quickly. There are a couple of new brands joining Bibaloo this Autumn-Winter 09 season and IKKS and Chipie are two major ones, which we are very proud of.
They both bring a new spirit to our range and although they are well-known for their teens collection, they actually start from the babies sizes.
IKKS, a trendy, authentic sportswear brand with strong personality. A look for kids and adults combining modern vintage spirit with Anglo-Saxon feel and using fine materials, dynamic cuts, comfortable lines.

Have you ever wondered why clothes manufacturers almost exclusively offer cream and beige-colour garments in their organic range?
Originally organic cotton remained in its natural colour in order to avoid bleaching. This is why the first organic clothes appeared in a not very homogeneous cream/beige colour. Those clothes were not necessarily nicely cut, partly due to the quality of the cotton and also because the pioneer brands in organic cotton were not always focussed on fashion trends.

Liberty of London: the department store of course… but what really makes this name famous all around the world is the Liberty printed fabrics.
It all started when Arthur Lasenby Liberty in 1875 started to sell ornaments, fabrics and miscellaneous art objects from Japan and the Far East. Liberty & Co. first catered for an eclectic mixture of popular styles, but then went on to develop a fundamentally different style closely linked to the aesthetic movement of the 1890s and Art Nouveau. The company became synonymous with this new style to the extent that in Italy, Art Nouveau became known as Stile Liberty after the London shop!
