Modern design, selected materials and optimum quality
Sterntaler is one of the leading ‘grabbing toy’ manufacturers for babies and young children but their collection also includes anything from hats, headbands gloves and scarves, through to shoes, socks, tights, toweling goods and sleeping bags.
The products are made from the most diverse materials, such as velour, plush and terry and offer the warmth, protection and functionality that are so important at this age. Sterntaler attaches a particularly great importance to the selection of high quality materials, as well as enabling multi-functionality and ensuring the safety of children at all times. On the top of intensive quality control during production, additional checks are carried out before the goods leave the factory to guarantee the high quality standard of their products.
The designs are modern, colourful and really cute. A landmark of the brand is the use of beautiful animal characters and also little boy and girl figures: the current collection features among others Flora the fairy, Richard the Knight, Hanno the little dog, Melina the mouse, Henriette the rabbit, and Pia the mare.
History and today…
Sterntaler was founded in 1965 in Dornburg-Dorndorf in Germany, originally selling baby shoes. The range expanded quickly. Today the family company, which is in its second generation, has over 500 employees worldwide, including 170 in Germany.
The design and development of the products are managed from the headquarters in Dorndorf. Until 1987 the high quality collections were produced exclusively in Germany; since then, Sterntaler has added its own production subsidiaries in the Czech Republic and Thailand.
Quality as top priority!
Long before lead-containing toys hit the headlines, Sterntaler had already tackled the subject of quality assurance and never considered the CE-certificate as being sufficient. For the last 15 years, Sterntaler had their toys examined on a voluntary basis by the German technical inspection agency TÜV. Furthermore, each season all fabrics used in production are examined according to the Öko(eco)-Tex-Standard. Sterntaler have committed to work on the continuous improvement of the current quality standards. Sterntaler is already far exceeds the German Federal Minister of Economics requirement for a “compulsory examination” on all imported toys. The repeated awards given by Öko-Test are the best proof of the manufacturing process’ supreme quality.
